Emily McFarlane

​Emily "Emma" McFarlane began her teaching career in DC Public Schools, where she attended school for most of her youth.   While teaching at GW Carver, in RPS, Emma earned her Master's Degree in Reading Instruction from VCU. For the past seven years, she has enjoyed being a literacy coach in Petersburg and Richmond, and teaching courses in teacher preparation at VCU.   Emma loves coaching for ExCELL because she is able to partner with RPS teachers to bridge research and practice, to deliver child-centered early literacy instruction.
