Family Events 

ExCELL family events are a wonderful opportunity for families to receive language and literacy rich materials and useful parent tips to support children's learning.

Family events consist of:
- Dinner for the whole family 
- Family take home bags filled with educational games and activities
- Parent tips and information to support learning at home 
- Family read-a-loud time with a book that families can take home
- Special family activity 
​- Raffle 

In-person Family Events

Family events take place at local schools. They are focused on different topics to support the learning happening in the classroom.  

Family Activities 

Family Events have special activities to support the curriculum. Family activities provide fun, bonding, and learning experiences for families. 

Take Home Materials 

Our family events materials are provided in both English and Spanish, and they are tied to learning happening in the classroom. Educational partnership is coordinated with teachers through professional development and coaching. 

Virtual Family Events 

ExCELL also has a virtual component. Whenever in-person family engagement is not possible, we provide families with parent tips videos, activities videos, and prerecorded interactive family read-a-louds. We also provide a take home activity bag that is distributed to families in a drive-thru format.

Family Field Trips 

ExCELL supports the idea that there is a lot of learning that happens outside the classroom. So in partnership with with parents and teachers we provide families with educational family field trips. 

ExCELL family field trips consist of: 
- Take home activity bag
       > Informational brochure about field trip location 
       > Book connected to the field trip theme 
       > Family activities 
- Pre-field tip parent meeting 
       > We explain materials to parents 
       > Provide parents with ideas of things that they could teach children on the trip
- Families travel to location in school buses
- Location exploration time 
- Post-field trip feedback meeting with parents to learn about the experience    

Virtual Family Field Trips 

The ExCELL program also has virtual family field trips. Whenever in-person field trips are not possible, we provide families with a virtual field trip educational video, along with a read-a-loud, and a field trip activity bag that is distributed in a drive-thru format. 

Parent Workshops 

ExCELL parent workshops are a wonderful opportunity for families to build relationships with each other, and build a meaningful partnership with their school. 

Things to expect from family workshops:
- Workshops are based on topics chosen by parents 
     > Parents get the opportunity to chose topics that can help them and their children   
- Volunteer opportunities within their school 
- Service learning projects 
     > Families identify areas of need within their community and work together to benefit everyone
