Gabriela Benzel

Gabriela first joined the ExCELL Team in the Summer of 2016 as part of the Research and Evaluation Team later transitioning as Family Literacy Specialist and Family Engagement Coordinator in 2018. In 2023 she became the Virtual Resources and Evaluation Specialist for the ExCELL Program. Gabriela hosts our virtual parent workshops and creates educational resources to help families connect with teachers while taking an active role in their children's education. She is also the host of our VPM Media educational TV show Circle Time at Home. She creates all of the video resources such as parent tips, activities, read alouds, and virtual field trips. 
She is an advocate of inclusion, equity, and language justice for all families. She actively promotes family engagement in the schools as an educational partnership in which teachers, families, and community partners work together for the success of all children.    
She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2016 with a (BS) in Psychology .
